1. The name of the club shall be "Stowe Angling Club" hereafter called "the club". The aim of the club is to encourage the involvement of young people.
2. Membership of the club shall consist of,
a) Adult / Senior Members
b) Honorary Members
c) Junior Members
d) Child Members
e) Temporary Members *
f) Complimentary Members
The membership of the club shall be defined as follows:
a) Senior Members - These are fully paid up members.
b) Honorary Members - Honorary members will be appointed by the Management Committee (see paragraph three). They shall be entitled to the privileges of ordinary membership, without payment of subscriptions, and shall be eligible for any office of the club.
c) Junior Members - A junior member shall be defined as being 13 to 18 inc., on or before 1st. of June.
d) Child member - Up to and including the age of 12. However, child members under the age of twelve must be accompanied by an adult member twenty-one or over and they shall not have any voting rights at the club's AGM.
e) Temporary Members - Temporary members of the club shall be holders of Guest tickets, issued by the club. They will not be eligible for club competitions or club trophies.
f) Complimentary Members – Shall have voting rights at the club’s AGM and are entitled to fish club matches.
Members defined under paragraphs 2a), 2b), 2c) & 2f) shall be entitled to vote at any general meeting.
Voting procedures to be as detailed in the AGM Standing Orders.
3. The affairs of the club shall be managed by the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Secretary, Match Secretary, Six committee members elected at each Annual General Meeting. This committee is to be known as the Management Committee, with the power to co-opt members for the current season.
4. All Officers and Members of the management committee shall be permanent members of the club. They shall be, elected by a majority of the members (see paragraph 2), present at an Annual General Meeting.
5. The Membership Rights of the club shall be granted to all fully paid members and honorary members. Members are eligible to vote, in person, at all Annual and Special Meetings, but will not be entitled to appoint a proxy.
6. There shall be a limit of 70 paying adult/senior members. (This limit may be temporarily exceeded by junior members attaining adult status) and a limit of 30 junior members (as defined in paragraphs 2a&2c).
7. All resolutions affecting the general rules and constitution of the club, must be submitted to the secretary, in writing, not later than the 1st of April. Such resolutions can only be debated if they receive a seconder at the Annual General Meeting. (If concerning Oxford Water, it will be subject to ratification by the National Trust).
8. An Extraordinary General Meeting (or special meeting) to discuss matters relating to the club, may be called by the management committee or if twenty or more members (see paragraph 2a), 2b), or 2c) deem this necessary and written notice, signed by all members concerned, is given to the secretary. Any such meeting to be held within twenty-eight days from receipt of request. (Any resultant rule changes affecting Oxford Water must be ratified by the National Trust).
9. Membership Fees for the various categories of membership (see paragraph 2) will be determined annually by the Management Committee.
10. Members of the club as defined in 2a), 2b), and 2c) may obtain their membership permits after 1st May, either in person at the AGM or by postal application (enclosing a stamped addressed envelope) from the Membership Secretary. Honorary members of the club will be given their membership permits by the club suitably endorsed, and these permits will remain in force for a period of one year. Membership tickets will normally be available from 1st May and are NOT transferable. All cheques MUST be made payable to Stowe Angling Club.
11. A limited number of guest day tickets can be purchased in advance by members from Mr David Gillman (membership secretary) or Mr David Ridgway (treasurer) contact details can be found on the contact page, and are available Monday to Friday inclusive with a maximum of 4 per day. Members should check Guest ticket availability before traveling, and are responsible for the conduct of their guests and must ensure they comply with all the club's rules.
12. General Rules
a) Parking is only allowed in the designated club parking areas. All parking is at owners own risk.
b) Members must not deposit litter or commit wilful damage on Club waters.
c) Members shall not fish from any boat, bridge, dam or any other marked area. Fishing is only permitted from the permanent pegs.
d) Fishing is only allowed on Oxford water and Jubilee lake.
e) No Bivouac's to be used at any time.
f) The use of a single pole standard fishing umbrella without any form of skirt or attachment may be used at any time. When fishing Oxford Water the National Trust would prefer the use of green umbrellas.
g) Members are reminded that the membership permit only entitles the holder to enter the grounds of Stowe School for the purpose of fishing Oxford water.
h) Members are reminded that NO tents, caravans or camping are allowed, and that NO fires are lit.
i) NO radios or any other electronic equipment (buzzers) to be used.
j) NO live fish are to be introduced to, or taken away from the lakes or used as bait unless authorised by the management committee for the purposes of restocking.
k) Reservation of swims, except for club matches , is strictly prohibited. For the benefit of non-match anglers, the lake indicated in the fixture list is closed to pleasure fishing for one hour prior to the commencement of matches, until half an hour after the match finishes.
l) UNDER NO circumstances must baited tackle be left unattended, nor must fish be retained in keepnets for an undue length of time.
m) No more than two rods per member may be used at any one time, which must NOT be spaced more than two meters apart.
n) Dogs must be kept on leads at Jubilee Lake but No dogs or other animals to be taken to Oxford Water.
o) Club challenge trophies MUST be returned by the 1st March.
p) All keepnets shall be made of a knotless material and to be not less than three meters in length with a minimum diameter forty six centimeters.
q) Other than for restocking purposes, approved by the committee, NO fish are to be transferred from one lake to another.
r) Barbless or micro-barb hooks only to be used.
s) NO reeds to be cut or removed from any swim.
t) Fishing is only permitted from dawn to dusk.
u) No close season on Oxford water or Jubilee lake.
v) All members must be possession of a current Environment Agency Rod Licence.
w) Club cards must be carried at all times and produced when requested by the club's bailiffs.
x) A maximum of 1kg of groundbait and or pellets to be used on each visit to Oxford water. No Tiger or Peanuts to be used as bait.
y) All anglers must keep to the mowed paths only.
aa) Strictly No fishing 15 meters either side of overhead power cables (Danger of death).
bb) A maximum of 25 anglers only are permitted to fish Oxford Water at any one time, and a maximum of 15 anglers on Jubilee lake at any one time.
13. There will be no close season on Oxford Water and Jubilee Lake but for the benefit of club competitions and the AGM, the season will run from 1st June to the 31st May. The AGM wil be held in the first two weeks of May.
Members are authorised to stop all persons fishing who cannot produce their ticket of membership.
Members are to ensure the car park gate at Jubilee Lake is kept locked at all times. The combination will be changed on 1st June each year and the new combination will be printed in the new Membership booklet.
Members are reminded that they are responsible for loss or damage to trophies in their possession.
Any member found breaking the club rules, may be subject to permanent dismissal from the club, or suspension as the Management Committee see fit.
Good healthy fish stock are critical to the success of the club and members are asked to handle fish very carefully.
No Keep nets allowed at Jubilee Lake.
