chairman's newsletter 2020
Dear Member,
Well another year has flown past and who could of guessed that we would be in a worldwide pandemic and so many lives would be lost.
I hope that you and all your families are staying safe and well.
As you are no doubt all aware all fishing and lakes have been closed and this includes all our club waters. Padlock numbers have been changed and membership is suspended until further notice.
Once things have returned to normal and we are allowed to fish again we will decide how we will proceed and we will let you know by way of email or letter.
The AGM has been cancelled and nothing will change in the near future apart from advising you that Steve Horwood and Dennis Purr have resigned from the committee and Tim Hilsdon has stepped up and taken on one of these positions.
Jubilee Lake
The lake fished very well during the summer months and right into the autumn with good numbers of decent sized Roach, Perch, Tench and Bream being caught.
We have been in contact with the Environment Agency to try and get some Crucians to take part in the National Crucian Project (NCP), and we should get Crucians for the next 3 winters.
During our recent security check and maintenance work there were lots of small roach topping, Bream blowing and large shoals of roach fry!
Once things get back to normal the committee will start on doing more at the lake to make less appealing to the cormorants by building more fish refuges, floating rafts, sunken pipes and maybe a lot more lilies to provide cover.
All our rents have been paid and are up to date, but we will be trying to obtain some rebates if possible, and no decisions about this year’s membership have yet been made and any decision will be based on our current situation and the length of time the lock-down lasts. We obviously rely on memberships fees to survive and we hope you will continue to support your local club in one form or another to help us through this tough time. You can be sure that we are working as hard as possible on behalf of the club.
If anybody has any questions or suggestions then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Best Regards
David Gillman
Membership Secretary.
